The Tahoe and Yukon Hybrid models were discontinued after the 2013 model year, as General Motors moved to make its SUVs more fuel efficient with the introduction of the EcoTec engine that would later be installed in the 2015 Tahoe and Yukon. The 2014 model year then began in June 2013 and was shortened, before a new version replaced it in February 2014. The hybrid had made its debut in late 2007 and had been named Green Car of the Year for 2008.
