The one millionth Discovery was built at Solihull in March 2012 and driven with two similar cars from Solihull to Beijing, repeating a 1950s expedition, before going on display at the heritage centre at Gaydon. For the 2012 model year the diesels in Europe gained the new eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddles and a rising rotary selector, and the SDV6 rose to 255 horsepower. A new HSE Luxury edition was announced, and Ireland gained a five-seat N1 commercial version.
