2012 Land Rover Defender

Automobiles

The 2012 model year Defender had a different engine from the Ford Duratorq family, the ZSD-422 of 2.2 litres, because Ford would not adapt the 2.4-litre engine to the coming Euro V standard. Power and torque were the same and the six-speed gearbox carried over, and it was the first Defender engine to carry a diesel particulate filter. The soft-top body style, a favourite of the Series years, came back to the general market after years as a special-order and military item.
