The new 6 Series was first shown as the BMW Concept 6 Series coupe concept car at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, previewing the third generation. The F12, F13 and F06 would be based on the 5 Series of the day, as executive sized grand tourers. The production versions were due to be introduced the following year, starting with the convertible. The concept shown at Paris was the first sight of the car that would reach customers in 2011.
