Following the 2008 model year the 3.0 liter V6 ended production, the Ranger being the sole vehicle offered with the engine by that time. For 2008 Ford consolidated the two FX4 model lines, withdrawing the Level II, and in 2008 made its first plans to end Ranger production in North America, though its productivity spared it from the Way Forward restructuring. The South American Ranger was given a makeover for 2008.
