Chrysler discontinued the Crossfire after the 2008 model year, as part of its restructuring plans. The last Crossfire was assembled on 17 December 2007,. The Crossfire was a rear wheel drive two seat sports car manufactured in Germany by Karmann, and Chrysler marketed it from the 2004 model year to the 2008 model year. The Crossfire shared 80 percent of its components with the first generation Mercedes Benz SLK, and used its R170 platform.
