In 2008 BMW introduced the X6, which shares its platform with the X5, continuing the practice of building X models that began with the X3 in 2003. The Vision EfficientDynamics concept was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show. The E70 X5 continued with trim and engine names following the same nomenclature used for other BMW vehicles after 2008. The X6 launched in 2008 used the same platform and was built at the same plants.
