The Life Cycle Impulse facelift of the E60 models was introduced in March 2007 for the 2008 model year, with changes to the lights, bumpers and engines. The facelift cars gained programmable favourite shortcut buttons for the iDrive system a year later. It was the mid cycle update intended to keep the E60 competitive until the arrival of its replacement. The facelifted cars were produced at BMW's Dingolfing plant like the earlier E60 models.
