2007 was a year of expansion for the first 1 Series. In March the E87 five door got a facelift, called LCI, in May the E81 three door hatchback was released, and in November the E82 coupe was released, followed soon after by the E88 convertible. The three door and coupe had been designed before the five door, hence their lower E numbers, but their introduction was delayed. The year thus expanded the 1 Series from a single five door hatchback to a four body style range.
