In 2006 the Pajero Mini was in its ninth year as the second generation of the kei SUV, still built on the platform of the Minica and still styled as a miniature of the Pajero, which had been Mitsubishi's response to the sport utility craze of the late 1980s and early 1990s. It stayed on sale with the VR-S variant and the two or four wheel drive choice. The Pajero Mini was sold at a specific retail chain called Galant Shop.
