The last year of the E46 saw the coupe come to the end of its run in May 2006 with 443,264 produced, and the convertible follow in November 2006. They were the last survivors of the fourth generation, even though the saloon and estate had already been replaced by the E90 and E91, and ended the generation after nearly nine years. The coupe was produced from December 1998 and the convertible from December 1999, and together they covered about seven years each.
