In 2004 the 1500 series Suburbans received the Hydroboost braking system that had previously been introduced in the 2500 series. The model of 2004 was the fifth year of the GMT800 generation, and the Z71 trim badge on the tailgate would later be replaced by the Suburban emblem for 2005, having been a Z71 badge in the years 2001 to 2004. The Hydroboost braking system had first been introduced in the 2500 series.
