The Chevrolet Colorado was introduced in 2004 to replace the Chevrolet S-10 and the GMC S-15 and Sonoma compact pickups, with production beginning in October 2003. The Colorado and its twin the GMC Canyon were jointly designed with Isuzu, which began selling its own version worldwide in 2002. All North American market vehicles were manufactured by Shreveport Operations, in Louisiana. The 2004 Colorado was the first model year of the Chevrolet compact pickup, a twin of the GMC Canyon.
