The LS received a refresh for 2003, coinciding with Lincoln's then new Travel Well ad campaign, with more than 500 revisions including a power increase, design and interior changes. The 3.9 liter V8 now produced over 87 percent of its peak torque at only 2000 rpm, so V8 cars could accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in around 6.5 seconds, and first gear launches were programmed into the automatic transmission.
