In China the Ikon was assembled from 2003 at the Changan Ford factory, with a four speed automatic transmission, ABS with electronic brake force distribution, a CD changer, electric mirrors, remote central locking and an alarm. The 1.8 litre diesel version arrived in India during 2003. Ford sold the same basic design under the Fiesta and Ikon names depending on the country. The Ikon was a small Ford sedan built on the Fiesta platform for markets where buyers wanted a sedan, such as India and South Africa.
