Ford announced in January 2002 that it would transfer the entire production of the Courier pickup to the factory in São Bernardo do Campo, starting in May 2002. In 2003 the Courier pickup was made there, as a Fiesta based coupe utility exported to countries such as Mexico. It began as a sedan delivery, became a Mazda built compact pickup, and later a Fiesta based van and coupe utility. The Courier was a Ford nameplate used on very different vehicles in different places and years, from sedan deliveries to pickups and vans.
