The re-engineered Crown Victoria, for the 2003 model year, was introduced in April 2002. The exterior saw no change, but nearly the whole chassis was redesigned, with major updates to the suspension and steering. For 2002 itself the car remained the unchanged EN114 sedan, for retail buyers and fleets, with the Police Interceptor, built at the St. Thomas Assembly plant. The cost cutting of the 2003 model year came after that.
