2001 Range Rover

Automobiles

Production of the third-generation Range Rover started in 2001 on a design planned under BMW as the L30, powered by BMW's M62 4.4-litre V8 and a ZF five-speed automatic, with no manual option at all. Although BMW sold Land Rover to Ford before the car was built, a clause in the sale contract kept BMW involved until volume production began. For the first time in a Range Rover its body was a unitary structure.
