2001 Ford Ikon

Automobiles

At the beginning of 2001 the Ikon began to be assembled in South Africa and Mexico, as well as at Ford's Chennai factory. It was a sedan on the fourth generation Fiesta platform with a front end similar to that car, and a 1.3 litre petrol engine was its first powerplant. Ford sold the same basic design under the Fiesta and Ikon names depending on the country. The Ikon was a small Ford sedan built on the Fiesta platform for markets where buyers wanted a sedan, such as India and South Africa.
