The Explorer Sport Trac was introduced in February 2000 as an early 2001 model, a crew cab pickup that sat between the Ranger SuperCab and the F-150 SuperCrew. It shared the front fascia and fenders of the two door Explorer Sport and the four door cab of the Explorer, with a 4.0 litre V6 engine. All production came from the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky, where it took the place of the Ranger. The Sport Trac was a mid size crew cab pickup that Ford built on a lengthened Explorer chassis, the first mid size pickup Ford produced.
