The 1.0 liter throttle body injected three cylinder, still used on base models, became the last engine on a vehicle available in the United States to use throttle body injection. The Metro of 1999 was a three door hatchback or a four door sedan built at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, using a longer wheelbase adaptation of the second generation Cultus platform. The 1999 Metro was the second year as a Chevrolet.
