The R/T model, Road and Track, debuted in the 1998 model year in both two and four door body styles. Offered only with the 2.0 liter DOHC engine and five speed manual transmission combination, the R/T featured many of the ACR's mechanical upgrades, including the numerically higher ratio 3.94 five speed manual transmission with a shorter fifth gear and a 130 mile an hour speed limit. The R/T was intended for the street, with more comfort and a quieter ride than the ACR.
