The tenth generation F-150 was released on 25 January 1996 as a 1997 model, with the first advertising airing during Super Bowl XXX, after an 87 stop tour of Ford plants and suppliers in October 1995. It was the first ground up redesign since 1979, with an all new chassis and body, the retirement of the Twin I-Beam front suspension, and an all new engine lineup. It was Motor Trend's Truck of the Year for 1997, and was offered at first only as the F-150.
