The 1997 model year was the last of the first generation Intrepid, the fifth of its initial five year production run, during which changes were few. It was related to the Chrysler 300M, Chrysler Concorde, Chrysler LHS, Chrysler New Yorker and Eagle Vision, all built on Chrysler's new cab forward LH platform, and was replaced by the redesigned car for 1998. It was built in Brampton, Ontario, and Newark, Delaware.
