The Eunos 800 of 1996 was in its fourth year, sold beside the smaller Xedos 6, which was rebranded in the same markets as the Eunos 500, as it was in Europe, where the pair were the Xedos 9 and Xedos 6. Mazda Motorsport Australia released a limited edition Eunos 800M SP with improved suspension and larger alloy wheels and tires, but no changes to the engine. The Millenia was engineered to far greater levels of perceived quality than the more mainstream Mazda cars.
