The 1996 Camaro saw minor mechanical revisions and small power gains from the new engine controls compliant with the second generation on board diagnostics standard OBD II. It was otherwise a continuation of the pattern set in 1993 within the early part of the generation, which ran to 1997 before the 1998 facelift. The 3800 Series II V6 added in 1995 and the 3.4 liter V6 remained the two V6 choices, and the fourth generation continued without major change until the facelift of 1998.
