The Series 6 ended in 1995, with an estimated 500 RX-7s produced for the 1995 model year for North America, the final year of RX-7 production for that market, discontinued because of slow sales. In Japan the Efini RX-7 was in its fourth year, and in Australia a special high performance version, the RX-7 SP, was introduced in 1995 as the car that Mazda used for racing homologation. Series 6 was exported throughout the world and sold in larger numbers than in later years.
