The 1995 Dakota continued the first generation, a mid size pickup with the standard driver's side airbag added for 1994, in S, Sport and SLT trims. It was built at Warren Truck Assembly in Michigan, with the 2.5 liter four, 3.9 liter V6 and 5.2 liter V8 engines, and four wheel drive was available only with the V6. The Dakota was nominated later, for 2000, for the North American Truck of the Year award.
