The two-door Range Rover was built until January 1994, mainly for the French market, and later in the year the second generation was launched and Land Rover began to call the original the Range Rover Classic. The Classic received a revised, soft-feel dashboard derived from that of the Discovery Series 1, with new switches and instruments from the Rover 800, and Land Rover introduced the 300Tdi diesel at the end of the year. The Classic and its replacement were built side by side briefly.
