The Sunbird ended with the 1994 model year and was replaced by the Pontiac Sunfire in 1995. For 1995 the model line underwent a substantial model update and was renamed the Pontiac Sunfire. The SE coupe of 1993 had been essentially the GT coupe at a lower price, and most Sunbirds were built in Lordstown, Ohio and Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. The 1994 Sunbird was the last, built at Lordstown and Ramos Arizpe, ahead of the 1995 Sunfire, a sibling of the Cavalier.
