The engines were updated in 1994 to meet the new Euro 1 emissions standards, reducing the power outputs by 7 horsepower for the 1.6 and 4 horsepower for the 2 liter. For 1994 a 1.8 liter straight four was introduced as the new base model in Japan, with 115 PS, whilst the 1.8 liter V6 was discontinued.
