The Mazda 323 derived Bantams and Rustlers of 1994 were sold in various trim levels with a choice of three different petrol engines. They were built at the Samcor plant in Silverton, Pretoria, in the second generation of the Bantam, which ran to 2001. The Bantam was a coupe utility pickup that Ford produced in South Africa for the South African market. It was the small half ton pickup known there as a bakkie, sold beside the Mazda Rustler.
