The Honda Beat Version Z was added in May 1993, featuring the Blade Silver Metallic or Everglade Green Metallic colour, three black gauges, mud guards, a rear spoiler, an exhaust pipe finisher and alloy wheels. The Beat's MTREC engine design later reached the 1993 Honda Today kei car. The Beat was one of a group of kei sized sports cars in the early 1990s, and among its rivals were Mazda's Autozam AZ-1 and the Suzuki Cappuccino.
