The 3.9 liter V6 and 5.2 liter V8 engines were updated to Magnum specifications for 1992, increasing rated power to 180 and 230 horsepower, respectively. The engines now had multiport electronic fuel injection with Chrysler's powertrain control module, which was partially responsible for the improved performance. The 5.2 liter Magnum V8 was an option on the Li'l Red Express Dakota and Dakota Warrior, whose final model year was 1992.
