The Mark V's reception was lukewarm, with the press unhappy about its styling, ride and handling although it remained a decent seller. The 150 PS RS2000 appeared in the autumn of 1991, with a 16 valve version of the Sierra's 2.0 liter four cylinder engine and improved ride and handling, so that this version of the Escort finally delivered on the road. It was one of the models that would carry the famous RS badge for the last time in the generation.
