The 1991 Cavalier received a more extensive restyling that involved a new hood, bumpers, headlights, taillights, wheel covers and a redesigned interior, although the body styles remained unchanged. Minor changes also included the Alpha Tech ignition lock cylinder with a dual bit key, and in Mexico the car received the same redesign as in the United States and was now also offered as a coupe, with a 3.1 liter V6 in the Z24.
