The Chariot of 1990 was in its eighth year on sale, with the four wheel drive system whose actuator clutch was driven by vacuum from the intake manifold and which sent power to the rear wheels through a propeller shaft with three joints that did not intrude into the passenger cabin. The second generation was due in 1991. The Chariot was sold in most export markets as the Mitsubishi Space Wagon. The Chariot's wheelbase was 2,625 mm.
