1989 Ford Mustang

Automobiles

In 1989 the older speed density engine management gave way to a mass air system, which slightly lowered factory horsepower but made the cars much easier to modify, because changes to the intake or exhaust were compensated for by the engine computer. For the car's 25th anniversary Ford made only a small galloping horse emblem on the passenger side of the dash, fitted to all models built after 27 March. The V8 was still rated at 225 horsepower.
