1988 Ford EXP

Automobiles

In October 1988, after over 225,000 Ford Escort EXPs were produced, the final EXP rolled off the assembly line. Ford could not afford the market overlap of three compact sports coupes alongside the Festiva, Escort and Tempo two doors once the front wheel drive Mustang became the Ford Probe, and chose to discontinue the EXP as the slowest selling nameplate. Sales had never been as strong as Ford marketing executives intended.
