The Del Rey of 1988 was the top Ford in Brazil, successor to the Landau as the flagship of the line, offered in L, GL, GLX and Ghia versions with the CHT 1.6 litre or the 1.8 litre Volkswagen engine. Ford and Volkswagen were by then partners in the Autolatina joint venture. The Del Rey was a large family car that Ford built in Brazil, based on the Corcel II and sold under the Belina name as a wagon. It ran on either petrol or ethanol and was replaced by the Versailles, a Volkswagen Santana based car.
