From the 1987 model year the Defender carried the designation L315, a code that stayed in use until 2006. Land Rover was by now marketing the utility vehicle partly as a private leisure car, with County models offering better trim and seats and a yearly round of colours, graphics and options such as radio-cassette players and air conditioning. The Australian Army's Perentie, a military 110, was introduced in 1987, Otokar in Turkey began building Defenders, and the company's amphibious Land Rover 90 appeared at Cowes Week.
