In August 1986 the Mustang was facelifted for 1987, with a front end restyled to look like the SVO and an all new dash, console and seat trim inside. The SVO was discontinued, leaving the LX and GT. The V8 Mustangs got E7TE heads and forged aluminum pistons, and power rose to 225 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The LX taillights had clear lenses on the turn signals, while the GT wore body colored triple louvered lenses.
