For 1986 the Civic received headlights set flush with the body, reworked rear lamps, redesigned wheel covers and a few other small cosmetic touches, and the optional three-speed automatic gained overdrive, making it a four-speed. The Si trim spread to the Civic hatchback, bringing the CRX Si powertrain, a removable glass sunroof, a five-speed manual gearbox, a tilting steering wheel, a taillight panel spanning the full width and a roof spoiler. The CRX Si also gained body-colored lower body panels and new four-hole alloy wheels.
