For 1986 Buick introduced the sixth generation LeSabre on General Motors' newly developed front wheel drive H platform, shared with the Oldsmobile Delta 88 and the 1987 Pontiac Bonneville, a platform in most respects identical to the front drive C platform. The LeSabre lost Buick's hallmark ventiports and sweepspear with its flush, aerodynamic styling and a front hinged clamshell hood. The 1986 LeSabre was the first front drive LeSabre, on the H platform shared with the Oldsmobile Delta 88.
