For 1985 the 2.8 liter LB6 V6 was added as an optional engine, and it was meant to debut with the Z24 package, but that package was delayed until 1986. The Cavalier of 1985 was the fourth year of the first generation, a front wheel drive compact in sedan, wagon, coupe and hatchback forms that Chevrolet sold alongside the Pontiac 2000 and the Buick Skyhawk. The sedan, wagon, coupe and hatchback of 1985 were sold alongside the J platform models of Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile.
