The 1983 model year is the last of the second generation. The United States advertising slogan for the 1983 Civic was We Make It Simple. A sporting S trim was added to the hatchback for the 1983 model year in Europe and the United States, and a similar S badge appeared on an overseas sport model that year, with the UK market getting a 1335 cc twin-carburettor engine. The third generation followed in September 1983 as a 1984 model.
