1983 Ford Sierra

Automobiles

In 1983, its first full year of sales, the Sierra sold nearly 160,000 cars in Britain, outsold only by the smaller Escort, although sales were slow in the first months because Ford dealers heavily discounted surplus Cortinas. In West Germany it was reported to sell at three times the rate of the Taunus. The high performance XR4i version, with the 2.8 liter Cologne V6, was introduced in 1983, and Ford also launched the Escort based Orion saloon that year.
