1980 was the final model year of the Versailles, which was never directly replaced. In its entire production run Lincoln sold 50,156 examples, and Cadillac outsold that total in both 1978 and 1979, the last two years of the first generation Seville. Lincoln temporarily reverted to an all full size lineup for 1981 before introducing a downsized, Fox based Continental for 1982. The Versailles was a Lincoln variant of the Ford Granada and Mercury Monarch.
