1980 Ford Mustang

Automobiles

After the second oil crisis the 302 V8 was dropped in 1980 in favor of a 4.2 liter 255 cubic inch V8 that used less fuel, which at 120 horsepower was the weakest V8 ever offered in a Mustang and could only be had with the three speed automatic. That left the turbocharged 2.3 liter four as the only performance engine. A five speed manual became available late in the 1980 model year, but only with the four cylinder engines. The Cobra package continued for 1980.
