The Mark V, or TC3, was announced on 24 August 1979 as the Cortina 80, under the programme name Teresa, with prices from 3,475 pounds for a basic 1.3 liter car. It was largely an update of the Mark IV, with revised headlights, the Aeroflow grille, a flattened roof and bigger glass area. The 2.0 and 2.3 liter S models were dropped. In 1979 the Cortina set a British record of more than 193,000 sales while the range changed over.
